Recommendation on a Certificate on Procurement
I´m currently looking for a certificate on Procurement that is relevant to organisations when looking for a Procurement Specialist that has both experience and accreditation. Do you have any recommendation?
I found the CIPS Level 4 diploma Procurement & Supply interesting
Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS). The Institute now has representation in the US in addition to many other global marketplaces. As a member since 1995 I would highly recommend their education program along with the additional benefits that CIPS offer.
For US based companies, ISM conducts CPSM and CPSD, APICS conducts CSCP. APICS course is also well recognized, however its bit more expensive than ISM's CPSM. CPSM is totally worth the money, it has a great study material.
For UK, CIPS is well known however its a bit lengthy.
If you are not looking for spending many $$$, you may look for coursera or edx. They also have really good courses on supply chain management
I hear CIPS is good. I am a CPM through the Institute for Supply Management and I am happy I have it. It is my understanding they are similar certificates. CPSM is good too, but is more geared towards direct purchasing. I am indirect.
It depends on where you are located or where you want to pursue your career. For US & Canada - APICS / CSCMP are the better options. For EU and other commonwealth nations, CIPS is preferred. Personally, I am Chartered MCIPS - the educational material is deep and they conduct events with CPD points to ensure that you stay on track with the profession.
Great, thank you all for the recommendations. I’m located in Barcelona, Spain and found an online course called ICS Learn to prepare for the CIPS Level 4 Diploma in Procurement and Supply
Hi, Sonia - also depends on where you are based out of. In the US, I'd say ISM's CPSM (Certified Professional of Supply Management) certification carries more weight. Whereas, in Europe definitely CIPS is better regarded. Other associations are APICS and CSCMP.
